I grew up a poor kid on the streets of Neverwinter, with no parents. I was a gangster in Neverwinter: an enforcer, a thief, a killer and a gambler. I despised myself for what I had become. Everything changed when I fell in love with Noelle, one of the prostitutes I slept with. She was a runaway from a noble house I knew nothing about. When my boss found out that I cared for her, he began using her to blackmail me. I decided to flee with her, but during our escape we were attacked. She died, and I was badly wounded.
As she was dying, she gave me her greatest secret: a medallion holding the magical memories of her entire bloodline, reaching back to ancient times. She shattered it, and its magic bound itself to us at the moment of her death. Suddenly I saw her life, her ancestors and the world through her eyes. I understood why she had loved me, and for the first time I saw myself the way she saw me. Since that moment I have been calmer, more composed and aware of my own choices. I am still a warrior and a rogue, I can still kill, but I no longer hate the man I am.
Since that night I have been haunted by dreams that are fragments of her family's memories. Some of them are hundreds, even thousands of years old. Sometimes, though, they contain things that should not be there: symbols, places and figures I cannot explain. So I set out on the road to discover what this magic I inherited truly is, and why it chose me.
